DEVELOPMENT

At this stage of the creative development process, we work directly with the filmmaking team to help them stay focused on their end-game goals and expectations. We work throughout the scripting process -- never to change the artistic intent of the filmmaker but rather to keep on-focus those vital elements that speak to audience, programmers and sales.

Kathleen’s involvement as a mentor at IFFR Cinemart, BAL (Buenos Aries Labs), Koszalin Debut Film Festival and Hot Docs International Film Festival, among others, as well as her broad breadth of experience as a programmer and festival director, guide this stage.

PRODUCTION

|
During this stage of the filmmaking journey, Kathleen’s experience as a Unit Publicist is put to use creating the film’s deliverables such as production notes for the press kits, the language of the film for marketing, iconic imagery, B-roll and B-T-S footage.

Strategic planning for intelligent audience design, festival outreach, sales goals and primary filmmaker business development are also started. 

For Documentaries focusing on social justice and change, we also begin strategic outreach plans to drive to the film’s mission. This is often a great stage to bring on strategic and impact partners.

POST PRODUCTION

|
As the film takes shape, the language of the film becomes finalized. Synopsis, iconic imagery, poster art, press notes are all created specifically to drive to the goals of the filmmakers as they start the journey to reach their audience.

SALES

|
We work hand-in-hand with sales agents to support and empower their market business: we target territorial press for primary sales, pitch focus and profiles for those journalists covering the emerging filmmakers, and work closely with the editors and journalists at Screen International, Variety, Hollywood Reporter and IndieWire for trade reviews.

FESTIVAL PREMIERES

We are hands-on-the-ground festival publicists at Sundance, Berlin and Toronto, as well as other festivals. We offer a first-hand experience for our filmmakers, including using social media to drive audience awareness; serving as festival liaison to manage the filmmakers’ festival experience, as well as serve as press agents on behalf of the film to maximize all opportunities such as red carpets, interviews, press coverage and special events during the festival experience. We help the filmmakers network with other festival programmers, useful industry insiders such as managers, agents and producers, and help access their audience for this film AND the next.
